Fellowship to fund ODF development
25 Aug 2006
Thanks to various donors who wish to remain anonymous the Fellowship now has $37,000 (USD) to invest in development projects for OpenDocument. These projects are very strategic. They provide a huge benefit to ODF for only a modest effort.
A big thank you to our donors!!
The donations are provided through the Fellowship's Targeted Donations Programme. We presented potential donors with a list of key projects to further OpenDocument and three of those were selected for funding:
- OpenFormula bounties
- We will offer per-formula rewards to the volunteers at the OASIS ODF Formula Sub-Committee as a recognition for their excellent work.
- ODF Tools
- The Fellowship's ODF Tools will be expanded to support conversion of ODF spreadsheets and presentations to HTML and converting HTML to OpenDocument.
- ODF Viewer
- The Fellowship's ODF Viewer will receive support to add important functionality and polish including a port to the Mac OS X platform.
If you are thinking of donating for one of these projects, please take a look at that list and contact Daniel Carrera (me) and Jean Hollis Weber for more information.
Stay tuned for more details coming in the following weeks.
